ABOUT GEORGE... We are honored to have George post his listing here.
George Miklas grew up in North Lima, OH, which is near Youngstown and now resides in Mercer, PA. He began playing the diatonic harmonica at 4 years old, the chromatic at 11, the bass harmonica at 13, and the chord harmonica at 14. He joined the Steel Valley Harmonica Club at 11 and SPAH at 12. George worked with country bands and harmonica trios around the Northeastern OH and Western PA areas throughout high school. At 16, George was instrumental in forming the trio "KEEP ON HARPIN'" But at 19, Jerry Murad called him to join JERRY MURAD'S HARMONICATS playing the chord harmonica when Al Fiore retired. At 28, Murad called on George again to rejoin the
HARMONICATS playing the bass harmonica when Dick Gardner retired. In recent years, he gave seminars at the 2008 Buckeye Harmonica Festival, 2008 Rocky Mountain Harmonica Festival, and 2009 SPAH convention. Most recently, George was a judge for the Mid Ohio Valley Harmonica Championship in Belleville, WV. George’s formal credentials include the Master of Education and Bachelor of Music
